Kate - Instructor
Kate Alava is a Tampa native who began her dance training at age 3 in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Acrobatics. She trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance in the summer of 2018 under the direction of Summer Rhatigan. She performed an excerpt of Batsheva repertoire and an original work by Courtney Mazeika. She received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Dance Performance with a concentration in Modern from the University of South Florida in the spring of 2020. There, she had the pleasure of working with guest artists including Robert Moses, Alex Ketley, and Claudia Lavista and faculty members Bliss Kohlmyer, Andee Scott, Jeanne Travers, among others. While at the university, she was awarded talent-based grants and a departmental scholarship and sat on the College of the Arts Dean Search Committee her senior year.. Kate has participated and performed in the American College Dance Association regional conferences from 2017-2019. She attended the Beijing Normal UniversityInternational Creative Dance Seminar in Beijing, China and performed works by professors Jeanne Travers and Bliss Kohlmyer. In 2019 she was invited to perform with Tampa City Ballet in their production of 7th Ave & Ybor. She continues to teach around the bay area spreading her passion and drive.
