Emma - Instructor
Emma Meyers began dancing at the age of 3 in a ballet/tap combo class. Her competitive dance journey began at the age of 6. In her 16 years of dance education she trained in: ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, pointe, acro, modern, musical theater, ballroom, heels and vocal. Tap dancing quickly emerged as her favorite style and would become her most accomplished. She trained for 13 seasons under her tap mentor Cathy Scavelli and is currently a teacher assistant and choreographer for Cathy’s tap troupe “Tap Sensation”. She was a member of the American Tap Company out of Boston for five years. She was selected to be on the USA Tap Dancing Team in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 where she competed at the World Tap Championships in Riesa, Germany. Emma has had many performance opportunities over the years such as the 58th Presidential Inauguration ceremonies in the “Voices of the People” concert in Washington, D.C. in 2017. She also performed at the Sugar Bowl Half time show, Busch Gardens, Downtown Disney and Universal City Walk. She was selected to travel the country in the summer of 2017 on the “Next Level Dance Tour”, as a teacher assistant and a performer. She has attended many summer intensives such as Joffrey Ballet in Miami, St. Louis Tap Festival, Dance United/Tap United, Tap Kids, Tap into the Network, Chicago Human Rhythm Project, North Carolina Tap Fest, DC Tap Fest and the Tampa Bay Tap Festival. In 2017 she began her first teaching job at Fusion Dance Company after being a student here for many years. In May of 2018, she graduated from JW Mitchell High School Cum Laude. She also worked for 18 months as a Princess at La Dee Da Kids Spa. In 2018 she was awarded a full scholarship to the NEXSTEP Pre-Professional Training Program at Nancy Chippendale’s Dance Studios in North Andover, MA where she continued her dance education for 10 months and was also on staff. While in Boston she took a course to be Acro Arts Certified. She is currently attending St. Petersburg College working towards a degree in Elementary Education and is teaching dance classes in the Tampa Bay area.
